Met Schiparelli & Prada

While I was in New York one of the first things on my list besides visiting friends was a trip to the Metropotitan Museum.
A few years ago I had no idea who Elsa Schiparelli was but thanks to Mrs. Coreas an amazing and passionate instructor in my Fashion History class whom made me follow in love with various, amazing designers that we don't hear and talk about as often anymore. It was a very intense summer class, but I really enjoyed diving into fashion history every day.  At that time I even scored one of Schiparelli's original hats on e-bay auction,  now stored in a beautiful box inside my closet.
I had an unbelievable time at the Museum transporting myself and analyzing the work of such amazing fashion artists; that's how they like to be called and they truly are!
What a perfect duo for an exhibition! Elsa & Miuccia, designers from different eras, both much involved with arts, Italians who debuted in fashion almost by accident. The exhibit takes you in an incredible journey exploring striking affinities.
If you didn't have the chance to see the exhibition and love fashion in all aspects the book is a must have! Sold on amazon.com or at the Met museum site.
How about you are not allowed to take photos? Sorry Met Museum the experience was amazing but it wasn't enough... how can I share only with words? I did snap some illegal shots with my iPhone, but I wasn't the only one!

The show gives us a selection — dense and vivacious — of Schiaparelli jackets and hats and Prada skirts and shoes. But despite the “waist up, waist down” theme none of these forms come elevated or lowly, which is nice. Schiaparelli gives us a hat in the form of a shoe; Ms. Prada makes sneakers that look like Cadillacs. By Holland Cotter for The New York Times
