Paring Art

I love to pair things. I believe it’s a great combination when you can pair the right people, the right food and beverage, and the perfect complementary events.
As Mr. AI (my hubby) was out of town, I got together with some of my girlfriends, in order to enjoy the beautiful rainy night (few drops here and there) and took a trip to an art event accompanied by a fine dinner at one of my favorite restaurants in town.
The night could not have been more perfect and fun!
We started out playing like little kids in the rain on the way to the gallery. It is amazing what an umbrella, fun people and your childish imagination can do with a few drops of rain. I most definitely recommend it!!! (if and when it ever rains again in LA).
We got to our destination with high spirits and no expectations. But the Lab Art Gallery had transported us into a beautiful world full of colors, feelings, current themes, sensations and a high sense of what street art does best… captures the world’s raw and naked reality at its purest form.
Beside the very cool artwork, this is the largest space dedicated to street art, so I highly recommend that everyone take the grand tour. The gallery staff is awesome … always prompt to engage you in the art world and they really take the time to give you as much attention as you desire.
We left the gallery filled with inspiring images and vibes… and as the mind was fed and satisfied, …we were a bit peckish… ready to enjoy the next part of the evening!!!

Bolshoi Ballet - SWAN LAKE

Originally choreographed for the Bolshoi by Marius Petipa in 1877, today's revised Swan Lake by Yuri Grigorovich remains a sumptuous masterpiece. The tragic legend will be performed with LA Opera's Orchestra and marks the Bolshoi's long awaited return since 2000.

Herb Ritts at Getty Museum

Must see!!!
When it came to fashion photography, Ritts helped put L.A. on the map as the premier destination in the world for shooting fashion editorials and advertisements. Malibu, Point Dume, the dry lake bed at El Mirage near Palmdale and the Santa Monica Pier were some of his favorite locations to achieve the pointillist and chiaroscuro-like shadows on the skin that were his favorite effects.
Madonna, supermodels, hard bodies, strong women and vulnerable men. It’s hard to think about the 1980s and 1990s without thinking of photographer Herb Ritts. And it's hard to think of Ritts without thinking of L.A., which is why the title of the retrospective of his work that opened Tuesday at the J. Paul Getty Museum, “Herb Ritts: L.A. Style,” is fitting.
“Herb Ritts: L.A. Style” is at the J. Paul Getty Museum through Aug. 26.

Ovo, Cirque du Soleil

Last Saturday I went to see OVO!!! I've been waiting for this one for a while... the creator and director is Deborah Colker the most amazing brazilian writer dancer and choreographer.  I saw a documentary on the brazilian channel (2008 or 2009) when she started working on the project. Ovo means egg in portuguese and it takes you in a incredible journey inspired by the world of the insects. The Show is about the movement of life. You will see creatures flying leaping, boding and crawling and of course a amazing sound track inspired by Music of Brazil with various unique regional styles such as samba, choro, bossanova, frevo, forro and Sertaneja.
Ovo will be at the Santa Monica Pier until March 11, 2012 and is a must see Show!!!
